Shark bay is located on the most western coast of Western Australia and it covers an area of 2.3 million hectares. it is just over 700 km north of perth.

the region is one of the few properties inscribed on the world heritage List for all four outstanding natural universal values.

the shallow waters of shark bay are alive with marine life. the area contains 10 species of mammals, 98 types of reptiles and over 100 species of birds. Shark Bay is famous for all the dolphins that come in to be fed and swim with people.

at the hamelin pool, in south part of Shark bay, the stormatolites of hamelin pool are among the oldest fossils of life on earth.
