   Stage 3 2009

   Antarctica Food Webs 

In Term Four 2009, 6C and 6G researched a variety of animals found in the Antarctic region. They created food webs for their chosen animals using the program 'MindNode'.


   Making Informed Choices  

In Term Four 2009, 5J as part of their COGS unit 'Making Informed Choices', looked at the democratic process of government and the role of parliament. They have created mind maps on 'How to hold a fair election at school' and 'What is parliament?' using the program 'MindNode'.

   6C Animations

In Term Three 2009, 6C created some fantastic plasticine animations using SAM animation software. They did a great job!

  Cyber Smart Podcasts

In Term Three 2009, 5J as part of their COGs unit ‘Global and Social Issues’, researched the issue of being cyber smart and safe. They took part in the CyberQuoll program and produced these fantastic podcasts.

  Murder Under The Microscope 

In Term Two 2009, Stage 3 as part of their COGs unit ‘Interconnecting Growth and Change’, participated in an on-line eco crime investigation 'Crisis on the Coast'. Who was murdered, where and why? Take a look at their Comic Life projects below to find the answers.

Year 6 - Memories of HPS
During Term Three 2008, Year 6 students used the program Comic Life to put together their memories of their time at Helensburgh P.S. Australian Olympians at Beijing 2008
During Term Three 2008, Year 5 students researched and wrote reports on an Australian Olympian competing at the Beijing Olympics 2008. This work complimented their COGs unit "Global and Social Issues".  Please take a look at the students' reports published in iWeb.

Our very own Olympian and past student Alicia McCormack visited our school after returning from Beijing with a bronze medal for water polo. Visit the 'Latest News' page to see photos of Alicia's visit to our K-6 Assembly.

  Murder Under the Microscope

During Term Two 2008, Year 5 students became detectives and worked hard to solve an eco -crime as part of the Murder Under the Microscope Internet Project. This investigation complimented their COGs unit "Interconnecting Growth and Change".  Students used the program 'Comic Life' to publish a summary report of this very sad environmental crime.
